We are an association dedicated to the promotion of the Quarter Horse breed. Our purpose is to foster and spread interest in Quarter Horses, and to educate its members in riding, breeding, raising, training, and showing Quarter Horses in America.

While our association is headquartered in northern Illinois, we have members in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan.

2017 AQHA Level 1 Championships

The American Quarter Horse Association has released the tentative schedules for the 2017 Farnam Central, AQHA West and Nutrena East Level 1 Championships.

Farnam Central AQHA Level 1 Championships
,   April 11-15   in Oklahoma City
AQHA West Level 1 Championships,   April 19-23   in Las Vegas
Nutrena East AQHA Level 1 Championships,   May 3-7   in Raleigh, North Carolina
The Farnam Central, AQHA West and Nutrena East all offer AQHA’s core and over-fences classes; the Farnam Central is the only show that offers cattle classes.

To compete at one of three 2017 Level 1 Championships, exhibitors have   four ways to earn an invitation.
 Qualifying is already underway, as the qualifying period kicked off January 1, 2016, and continues through   December 31, 2016 .

1. Maintain eligibility, then enter.

  • Enter cattle and yearling halter classes before the entry deadline.   (No qualification method is necessary for cattle or yearling halter classes.)  
  • Enter Rookie classes before the entry deadline.   (No qualification method is necessary for Rookie classes.)  

2. Qualify nationally:   Show at 20 AQHA-approved shows.

3. Qualify nationally:   Place in the top 10 in any Merial AQHA Regional Championships class.

4. Qualify through your state or provincial affiliate.
